TNA Slammiversary 2015 Results

The TNA Slammiversary 2015 pay-per-view kicks off with Josh Mathews welcoming us to the show as we see shots of various TNA stars arriving in the parking lot earlier in the day.

An awesome video package airs, mostly showing highlights from TNA’s past including Hulk Hogan, Sting and Kurt Angle, slowly merging into focusing on modern TNA, with guys like Rockstar Spud and Eric Young being featured.

From there, we shoot live into the arena where we shoot to the ringside area with Josh Mathews, Mike Tenay and The Pope, our three-man broadcast booth for tonight’s show.

TNA X-Division Title Elimination Match
– DJ Z vs. Manik vs. Tigre Uno (c)

Out comes DJ Z, followed by Manik of The Revolution and the X-Division Champion Tigre Uno, in that order.

The bell sounds and immediately all three guys are zipping and flying all over the place. When the smoke clears and the pace settles down a bit, Uno appears to be in control of the action.

After Manik gets in some offense, Uno flies over the top rope and splashes onto both guys with a corkscrew plancha. The action returns inside the ring.

More to come …. continue refreshing often all night long for the latest results!!

Backstage Update – Kurt Angle’s Neck Tumor & Surgery

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer

UPDATE x 2: Here is another update on the health and update of Kurt Angle, who recently announced during a promo at the iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings that he has a tumor on his neck, and he will be going in for surgery. The surgery is reportedly not a major operation, and Angle is expected to make a return to the ring in about three weeks after the procedure.

This could mean Angle will be ready to return for the next set of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling TV tapings set for next month (July 22 and 29).

UPDATE: According to sources, the story is real. Angle has known about the tumor for about a year. As of late, it has been causing him some issues leading to muscle atrophy, which is why he is having surgery now.

ORIGINAL: Kurt Angle appeared before the live crowd at tonight’s TNA iMPACT! tapings.

During his appearance, he announced that he has a tumor in his neck, that it will require surgery and that he will be taking time off. They then shot an angle with Ethan Carter III attacking Angle. More on the story as it develops.

Some more details have emerged from “An Evening with Jim Ross” which was co-hosted by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels in Manchester, UK. During the event, Michaels said he received an offer for a major role at WrestleMania 32 for next year, which is being held in his home state of Texas. However, Michaels turned the offer down.

Michaels said he turned the offer down because he feels like he has nothing left to do in WWE. He went on to stay he still has loads of gas left in the tank but just because you have a gun, you don’t fire all the ammunition at once. Michaels added that he feels like he has “had enough.”

Chris Masters Discusses Signing With GFW, TNA Relationship, More

The Pro Wrestling Mania recently interviewed former WWE Superstar Chris Masters, who currently goes by “The Adonis” Chris Mordetzky in Global Force Wrestling. Mordetzky discusses his time in WWE, his relationship with TNA, working with GFW, and more. Below are some highlights:

Regarding his time in WWE and after: “From 2011 on I made it my goal whether push or no push whatever it was. I was on Superstars and I was given a lot of time then and my goal was just to prove the neigh sayers wrong and be a good in-ring worker and not just a body. To try and give WWE basically make them use me. If they weren’t going to use me, I was going to make them use me. I was going out there every night and used it as fuel. I’m going to be that damn good. I worked my a** off and everything started coming together, I really started getting it and anybody that’s seen my work from 2011 pretty much on will tell you and vouch for that fact. Even CM Punk said in the promo where he was quote unquote shooting, that I’m not the same guy that most people remember at least not from back in my earlier run, now I can go and I can go with anybody it doesn’t matter who it is. I’m looking forward to this opportunity with Global Force Wrestling because I think it will be a good platform working a lot internationally, I’ve had some of the best matches of my career over in the UK and Europe and now being with Jarrett I understand it’s Global Force but we’re kicking things off here domestically. It’s good for wrestling fans who want to see me out here to see me doing something and get that exposure and have that platform.”

On his current relationship with TNA: “I was under the impression that I was hired by multiple sources within the company and another lesson that I’ve learned in wrestling is don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Until something happens, you can never get excited or disappointed or anything about it. You just have to wait for it to actually happen because you never know. I’ve seen it happen time and time again. TNA was a good example of that. I went into the situation already fully booked and at the time they didn’t want anyone booked who were going to be on shows that were going to be recorded or anything like that. It would have been nice on one hand to be there but on the other hand I didn’t need to be there. But I was under the impression that I was going to be there. This was from sources within the company and also a personal friend actually. I’m actually friends with Nick Hogan, who’s obviously dad is Hulk. Hulk was actually the one telling me. The crowd was really receptive and everything went real well and obviously I made an impression so Hulk sat me down amongst others and all the reports were positive and looks like I’m getting a job and I didn’t necessarily by it though, but I was kind of like okay, it went well, cool but again to go back I know better than to count my chickens before they hatch. What really got me thinking though that it wasn’t going to happen though when I was on my way home and I got a call from Nick out of nowhere. Now I don’t talk to Nick everyday by any means so when he called me and told me of what his dad told him that was a little more validating in terms of Hulk can say something to me that he may mean or not mean but for him to go out of his way and call Nick within such a short span of time and then Nick call me and tell me led me to believe that it probably was in the bag. With these things, I feel there is a chain of command or hierarchy or whatever you want to refer to it as and sometimes all it takes is one person in that chain of command to put the thumbs down or not necessarily see a need for you or whatever or maybe even just timing. Timing is also a thing with pro wrestling. Is there a spot for this guy? Or how can we use him? I don’t know specifically what it was but I know it wasn’t on my behalf wasn’t devastating and on their behalf I’m sure it wasn’t devastating. But you never can tell because I never really did anything up there.”

On signing with GFW: “Jeff (Jarrett) called me. That’s it, yeah. Jeff, called me and I had worked with him in Ring Ka King in India which was a TNA affiliate at the time and I never met Jeff before or anything like that and after working with him in India and we had a very tough set of circumstances to work with out there but it ended up turning out well and of the utmost professionalism in the terms of the way we were taken care of and the production, the setting. Everything was done so well that once he called me to get on board with this it was really kind of a no brainer. We had done some good things before. Jeff is the kind of guy that has a proven track record he has a resume sort of speak and that was essentially it right there.”

Eric Young Discusses The Passing Of Dusty Rhodes, Borash, TNA, More

Journey of a Frontman recently interviewed TNA Superstar Eric Young. Below are some highlights.

His thoughts on the late Dusty Rhodes: “I mean he’s a huge part of this industry. He was a massive in-ring personality for years. He was wrestling before I was born. He’s wrestled in every territory, wrestled for NWA, WCW, WWE. He’s worked backstage at all major promotions at one point, worked for all of them. His imprints are all over everything. There’s a term called the Dusty Finish and it’s a very distinct finish in wrestling. It was made by him and still used to this day a lot. The impact of the legacy he built will never be forgotten. He’s a guy I shared the ring with. I don’t know if me and him always saw eye to eye, but I respect what he’s done in this business. If you’re a person that’s in wrestling and you can’t respect what he’s done, then you don’t know what you’re talking about. He was a fat middle-aged man that was arguably one of the most popular acts in WWE and WCW. He wasn’t good looking, he had a terrible physique, he had growths on his body, he wasn’t athletic, but he had something that made people relate to him. And he knew that. That’s a skill. If you can do that and make people care about you in any form of entertainment, especially wrestling, you’re doing something right for sure. He had a weird style of booking, if you’re asking me. It was an old style of doing it. I think some good things came from him being with us, but some bad things too. Part of him being the legend Dusty Rhodes is that he could skate by on his mistakes with the fact that he was Dusty Rhodes. And he made them. He did good things too. He and I maybe look at wrestling differently, that’s no slight on him or anything like that. I always respected him. Me and him shared the ring on three different occasions and I had a blast working with him. He’s the American Dream and I was from evil Team Canada. The emotion of those matches were always great. He was an old man, he couldn’t do anything. But it didn’t matter. Those matches are just as fun as any physical match or blow for blow match that I’ve ever had because people cared about him. At that point, I was a heel in Team Canada. That’s all you can ask for as a heel, going against somebody that people care about. It makes it easy.”

Young on wrestling companies not competing against each other: “In my opinion, none of the companies are really competing against each other. You are competing against yourself. The WWE is here and all the other promotions are here. So the WWE, they control. They’ve been around for so long and have the monopoly on most things. They’ve got three massive television shows and millions of people, generational, watching. That’s grandpas, fathers and sons watching. We’re not competing with those guys. A way for me to say is that they’re the Yankees and we’re the Nashville Sounds, in a baseball term. Not saying the Yankees as in skill level, I’m just as good or better than anybody there, I would say that to anybody that wants to listen. But we’re in a different game. We’re not competing with them. And for us to think that we’re competing with them is foolish, we’re competing with ourselves. ROH and TNA and Lucha Underground and all these other promotions are fighting over this one scrap. We don’t need to be fighting each other, we should be working together to make that scrap a bigger piece. There’s plenty of wrestling to go around. I feel this is a boom in wrestling. A lot of attention is on pro wrestling. There’s two pro wrestling shows on Destination America. Lucha Underground is on El Rey Network, it’s a very cool, young upstart network. These shows and these networks need to be nurtured so other people have places to work and wrestling fans have alternatives. I’m telling you right now, if you’re a wrestling fan, you need to start watching stuff other than the WWE. If they get a monopoly, it’s not good because then that’s your only choice. If you want pro wrestling, you can only watch them. If you’re a person like me that likes variety, you gotta support the other things. I’m not saying not to watch, watch it all. I watch all of it. When I was fifteen, sixteen, I watched ECW, I watched Smoky Mountain, I watched USWA, I watched WCW, NWA, I watched New Japan, Noah. I traded tapes with guys in Mexico. I watched it all. It’s all interesting in its own way, it all has something to offer. I think everyone just needs to enjoy this time and not worry so much about everything else.”

His thoughts on Jeremy Borash: “Borash is probably one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. He can be an in-ring announcer, he’s just as good as Michael Buffer or any of those guys. He can be a commentator if he wanted. His knowledge of wrestling is vast, he’s been a wrestling fan since he was twelve. He’s watched everything. You name it, he’s watched it. He knows it and he remembers all of it. Back in the early days when we were at the fairgrounds in Nashville, he would do the interviews and in-ring announcing. Then we’d all head to the bars, he’d go home and open up his laptop and taught himself how to edit. A lot of the early packages, the early stuff that you saw on pay per view and stuff, that was him. He did it all. There was him and a small group, Bill Banks was a guy, Moody was a guy, he works in Puerto Rico now. But yeah, he’s an ultra-talented guy. British Boot Camp, he wrote it, directed it, edited it, produced it, all of it. All him. Really successful television show in the UK.”
