Netflix Officially Orders New G.L.O.W. Series – Details Inside

TVLine reports that Netflix has ordered ten episodes of the news series G.L.O.W, the scripted comedy series inspired by the 80s wrestling promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. It was created by Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black).

G.L.O.W. was created in 1986 as a women-only wrestling promotion, and became an unscripted syndicated series that ran until 1990. It later continued through select events and parties. The new series is set in Los Angeles and includes “big hair and body slams”. It’s described as a “fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers.”

Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who created the series, will be the showrunners and executive producers with Kohan and Tara Herrmann.

John Cena On The Key To Successful Relationships, Make-A-Wish Foundation, More

– WWE Superstar and cover boy John Cena recently spoke with Men’s Health about his relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and more. Here are the following highlights:

On the key to making relationships work in your personal life:

“It could be a card, could be flowers, an unplanned date, a kiss on the cheek; and you say, ‘I know how hard you’re working, and I care for you. I’m giving you the distance you need, but I’m here for you whenever you need me.’”

On granting more than 500 wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and not being done yet:

“That’s over 15 years, roughly 5,475 days. That means I’ve been idle for 4,975 days. I feel like I’m not meeting enough kids. The days I see a Make-A-Wish kid are the best days of the week. It’s a real privilege.”

The Big Show Comments On Future Retirement, Accomplishing New Goals, More

– The Big Show recently spoke with the Miami Herald to help promote the upcoming June 28th Smackdown TV taping in Miami, Florida. Here are the following highlights:

“All great things come to an end,” Show said. “So for me I’m looking at projects outside of WWE and maybe moving into something else in the future, but my heart is with WWE. I love helping the younger talent. I love representing WWE like with Make-A-Wish, Be a STAR, Special Olympics. I think I’ll always have a home in WWE.”

“I’ve had a great career and had a lot of fun. So whatever happens in the future, I’m gonna take it. If I get a phone call tomorrow, and Vince McMahon says, ‘Thank you very much. I appreciate everything you’ve done.’ Well, that said, I can hold my head high and go on and do other things.”

“I don’t want to ever look back and say, ‘I wish I could have,’ or ‘I wish I would have.’ I’m just a guy who is very thankful. I still have my health, and I still get a chance to do something I love every now and then.”

Josh Mathews Debuts New Weekly “Ringside Blog”

– TNA announcer Josh Mathews officially launched a new weekly blog over at ImpactWrestling.com. The voice of Impact Wrestling on Pop TV looks at tonight’s “Pick Your Poison” match between Drew Galloway and Bobby Lashley.

Check out the following Josh Mathews’ debut Ringside Blog below:

Ringside Blog: Mathews Looks At Pick Your Poison

Tonight on IMPACT WRESTLING on Pop, Slammiversary opponents Drew Galloway and Lashley will each have the opportunity to choose opponents for the other. It is being billed as “Pick Your Poison” and it is a great way for Champion and Challenger to test each other, scout each other and perhaps see a weakness in the other.

While both are keeping their choices close to the vest, rumor has it Drew Galloway is leaning towards selecting a fellow Brit to face Lashley. That was all I could get out of him in our conversation earlier today. Drew is smart and calculating, so whomever he decides on facing “The Destroyer” will be ready.

Drew is a great champion and an amazing representative of IMPACT WRESTLING. He passes the “eye test” and that goes a long way. At 6’7 he moves around like an X Division athlete and has developed different ways to take down his opponent. From the Future Shock DDT, to the Claymore Kick to the new Iron Maiden submission hold, Drew can do it all. He will need that arsenal of moves against Lashley.

Lashley. Where to start? His MMA background? The fact that he was going to spear me last month and I couldn’t do anything about it and the fear I was feeling? The fact that he has won 2 World Titles? Or that he can snap bones like most people snap their fingers? This dude is legit. Scary legit. Who has he decided upon to face Drew Galloway?

I love this concept of “Pick Your Poison” as it adds a level of intrigue to what has been a rivalry building for weeks. The fight in the MMA gym? Amazing. Lashley actually found Drew in a gym and attacked him. Who does that? Forget criminal charges, I am just happy that a camera crew was there to capture the fight. Did you notice that Drew held his own in the cage?

Ric Flair Comments On The Talent And Versatility Of Roman Reigns

– WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair recently appeared on the Talk Is Jericho podcast and discussed a variety of topics including WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and more. Here are the following highlights:

Flair On Reigns’ versatility:

“You really don’t know what the crowd is going to do until you go out there through the curtain, right? You can have something all planned out and they’re not going to buy it. I mean, that’s the great thing about having Roman Reigns. I think they struggled with him at first, but with Roman, they’ve got the best of both worlds. They’ve got a guy that one day can wrestle Seth Rollins and be the hottest bad guy in the professional wrestling business, which that match will be huge when they have it or he can go out and wrestle Hunter and whatever, right? He’s good! Yes, he is versatile, which is a good thing, I think.”

“Look at the match him and AJ Styles had at WWE Payback. Holy cow! What a match. Start, restart, start, restart. And you know, AJ flies around. Jericho should know. He works Jericho’s style of work, but Roman hung right there with him for 30 minutes. Roman has got legs. It makes him a better performer. You can’t boo him anymore. But he just had to work hard to win them over. But the company just proves everybody right. They did the right thing. Bret Hart, I just saw Bret the other day, but Bret was hammering the company for the way they treat Roman. Roman’s as happy as can be. Bret’s fine now too! As long as he can put the Sharpshooter on me, he’s happy.”
