Chris Jericho Reacts To Hulk Hogan’s Racist Rants, & More

During the latest edition of “Talk is Jericho”, Chris Jericho gave his thoughts on Hulk Hogan’s racist rant, which was leaked last week.

He said: “All I know is that Hulk has always been a nice guy to me and I’ve seen him sign hundreds and hundreds of autographs for kids, waiting for an airplane and I was there standing next to him. It doesn’t excuse what he said. I’m not saying anything about that. I’m just saying I think he has got a good heart and was maybe caught in the wrong place, saying things that he shouldn’t have said, but all you can say is that I hope Hulk rebounds and comes back from this and I hope he digs down deep inside and finds out what kind of a person he really is. I think, if he can do that, then people will get a chance to see the real Hulk and terrible, terrible situation, and Hulk should not have put himself in that position. Like I said, man, it’s a tough thing. A lot of times friends do things that you wish they hadn’t have done, but you don’t abandon them completely.“

Rob Van Dam Discusses His Current WWE Status, Retirement, More

Credit: PWInsider

Rob Van Dam had a Q&A at the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, North Carolina. He talked about his WWE status, a possible retirement tour and more. Here are highlights:

– He currently has an active merchandise deal with WWE but is in between talent contracts. His current deal prevents him from working for TNA or ROH, as well as potentially anyone else with a TV deal. He says he will return to WWE at some point but isn’t in a rush to do it.

– His 2013 run was 66 matches in 90 days, mostly at live events. His last run let him pick and choose his own dates. It left things open for a return whenever he feels he’s ready.

– His most recent return to WWE happened after he appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony to see Booker T inducted. He talked to Triple H, who convinced him to come back.

– He doesn’t have any plans for a “retirement tour” but he doesn’t want to be on the road full time anymore. He put over the young talent, who he said are “hungrier” and “want those spots more”. He added that the end of his career isn’t too far off.

– He doesn’t consider himself a legend, as he thinks that title belongs to wrestlers like Ricky Steamboat, Hulk Hogan or Junkyard Dog. He said the fans probably have a different view than he does. He doesn’t expect to go into the Hall of Fame but would be honored if it did.

– He said he liked his TNA run at first but began to disassociate with the younger talents, who complained to agents about matches and bookings. He said he would sit in his car until it was time to wrestle. When he went back to WWE, there was a 3-year contract on the table with TNA but they never got back to him. He added that he felt under-appreciated by TNA.

Kurt Angle Compares Cena’s Reaction To His ‘You Suck’ Chants

Kurt Angle has posted a new blog on his official website talking about John Cena and the reaction he gets, comparing it to his own “You Suck” chants. You can read an excerpt below:

“Cena Sucks vs You Suck~ Kurt Angle Official BlogMany of you have asked if I thought that John Cena has “taken my place in WWE” or is “copying me” because of the “John Cena Sucks” chants that he gets from the fans…

“For me, I was a heel at the time, and the “You suck” chant started when Edge encouraged the fans to do it. They never stopped, even when I turned baby face. My opinion is that Cena was pushed from the upper management to be unbeatable, and he rarely lost. It wasn’t Cena’s idea to make himself unbeatable. It was the man in charge. A lot of fans were disgusted that somebody could win so much, so they started to dislike Cena. I believe that wrestling needed a superhero and Cena was the guy. To any wrestling fan that dislikes Cena, at the very least, you have to admit he’s really good. I’m quite amazed at Cena’s in-ring abilities and matches. He has really stepped up his game, especially this late in his career, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Cena consistently puts on amazing matches. He also gets the necessary time to create those matches. Twenty minutes on Raw is a rarity today, but Cena gets those minutes when he wrestles, sometimes even longer. He should get that time, because he is that good. Are there other talents out there that can do the same? Sure there are, but why fix what isn’t broken? When I was in WWE, I also got the proper time to put on the stellar matches I had, and Cena has earned that right.”
